Best Metal Moments In Horror History

For this installment, comes the MOST metal opening of any film EVER made. Of course, I'm talking about the amazing intro to Zombieland.

Say what you will about Metallica, their first four records are the best first four records from ANY metal band. Ever. Once this kicked in, I had the metal horns in the air. Sure, I got some weird stares from folks in the theater, but the devil horns were well warranted. I mean, what more could you want? Zombies chasing down victims, zombie strippers, and Metallica? My head nearly exploded.

Due to funky YouTube and music copyright laws, the below was actually spliced together and does not contain the full intro.

HorrorBlips: vote it up!

My brother JM had a good suggestion, but I'd also mention Dokken in "Nightmare on Elm Street 3." What JM won't tell you is that he played the tape of the song "Dream Warriors" so often that it is now burned into my brain, forever haunting my own nightmares.

Oh man! I just remembered that ARMORED SAINT was the house band in HELLRAISER 3: HELL ON EARTH. Awesome!!

Billy, forgot about Dokken in Dream Warriors. That will definitely need to be incorporated at some point.

JM, I had NO idea they were the house band in Hellraiser 3! And I'm a huge John Bush fan. Shame on me. I need to revisit that one ASAP.

Rock on! \m/

Freaking loved the intro to Zombieland (we talked about this on my review a while back) and Metallica was a superb selection. Too bad the rest of the movie wasn't as awesome.

Oh yes, listen to the boys over at Tower Farm...don't leave Dokken off the list! Apparently I'm going to see them this summer, well, I'm going to see Scorpions and they just so happen to be opening. :P

Becky, you didn't dig the rest of the film?

Have you heard any of the Scorpions output during the 70's? Not as metal but some good rockin' tunes nonetheless.

If we're talking about Hellraiser III and metal, then Motorhead must be mentioned!

Agreed with you on all fronts, Cortez. Awesome opening and those first handful of Metallica albums are still dope.

@Chris, really? Even when its paired amazingly well with horror? Trick or Treat, Rocktober Blood, Shock Em Dead?

@Matt, agreed. And fuck the Metallica haters!

Becky- I saw DOKKEN about 5 years ago. Don's voice was shot... but, it actually sounded better that way (at least to me). I thought they were really good.

Cortez- I'm a huge John Bush fan, too. I recently picked up the new Armored Saint CD. It is great.

Another great metal moment in horror-- IRON MAIDEN'S "Flash of the Blade" playing in Dario Argento's CREEPERS or PHENOMENA (depending on the version). My brother actually bought me that soundtrack on vinyl from Ebay. Great song during a great scene!
