One, Two, You Know The Rest....

If you haven't seen it yet, the new trailer for A Nightmare on Elm Street has been posted online and below. For those doubters, it may give some hope that this will turn out to be better than expected. I like the fact that Freddy is getting back to being meaner and nastier.

But I do have to point out one fault. Whoever cut this trailer should be shot. Why would you reveal a major plot point in it? The concept of being so delirious from a lack of sleep that the body goes into a quasi-REM like state while technically being awake so Freddy can STILL come and get you, is freakin' brilliant and terrifying. Why the hell would you reveal this in a TWO AND A HALF MINUTE trailer?

Shit! I didn't just read that!

Sorry for being somewhat of a 'spoiler' but you'd get that from watching the trailer (its even spelled out in plain fucking English!). So its their own damn fault ultimately.

I read about the micro naps yesterday, so unfortunately, the spoil is impossible to avoid. As for the trailer, the movie looks really solid, hopefully it can do what is promised. The scene in the grocery store is fucking awesome looking.

And don't get me started on that plot point in ANOES.

Thanks Geof, much appreciated dude.

Jaded, totally. I can see it coming. It looks like they might be Skype-ing with that Asian kid at the beginning of the trailer. Facebook might get a shout out too.

I'm not that upset about the micro-nap reference; in the previous films, kids were always slipping into the sleep state without their realizing it - or us, either. It's just another way of telling us not to trust what we see - and us Freddy die-hards know that already. I'm just thrilled that every indication has Haley playing the role deathly seriously - yes! After Little Children, Watchmen and Shutter Island, I'm still waiting for the man to let me down...

I hear ya Senski. But it wasn't overtly mentioned like this is which I think makes it a more 'original' concept. My anger is the continual cutting of trailers for the perceived dumbed down masses by Hollywood types that think that today's movie goers need to be hand held and can't figure things out for themselves. Such BS.

I'd love to see a high-profile movie like this have the chutzpah to sell itself with a teaser and only a teaser. Never happen, though. The marketing types would never take a chance like that, hence these leave-no-stone-unturned previews. Of course, have you seen the people in theaters? I'm surprised they don't need a pre-movie announcement telling them to face the screen. :-)
